The St. Louis Cardinals returned to the .500 mark with a 5-2 win over Montreal. Albert Pujols provided the big blow yet again with a three-run home run in the fourth inning. The rookie infielder now has seven home runs and 22 runs batted in, both figures lead the team. Andy Benes labored through five innings, throwing 104 pitches, but he managed to earn his first win of the season. Benes walked five while on the hill, but the Expos could never get the big hit to knock the righthander out. Gene Stechschulte earned his first save of the season with 2 1/3 innings of one-hit relief. The 10-10 Cardinals wrap up their mid-week series with the Expos this afternoon.
