Gerald Williams and Greg Vaughn each hit two-run home runs off of Brian Meadows to lead the Tampa Bay Devil Rays past the Kansas City Royals 4-2 last night. The Royals scored single runs in each of the first two innings, but the Rays answered with Williams’ dinger in the third and Vaughn’s bomb in the fifth. Meadows lasted just 4 2/3 innings, allowing the four runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out one. Albie Lopez was strong for Tampa bay. He pitched seven innings allowing just the two runs on seven hits. Lopez has half of the Devil Rays wins this season. The Royals fall to 6-13 on the season. They battle Tampa again tonight.
