Cards Shuffle Into Capitol To Push Stadium

April 24, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

The St. Louis Cardinals are doing what they can to try to convince Jefferson City lawmaker to go along with a proposal to have the state help the team build a new stadium in downtown St. Louis. Mark McGwire, Andy Benes, and Ray Lankford were among the big names the team brought to the State Capitol to rub shoulders with Representatives and Senators. Redbirds’ management met with Governor Holden, as well, emerging from the meeting saying the mood was upbeat. A state from the Governor, however, indicates state finances are tight and there isn’t a lot of money for stadium projects.
