Second Day of Draft Keeps Chiefs Busy

April 23, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

The Kansas City Chiefs were never able to package their lower round picks for a selection in Round #2 of the NFL Draft. As a result they had seven selections on Sunday. With their first pick in the fourth round, the Chiefs selected Kansas State defensive end Monty Beisel. They also nabbed fullback George Layne in round four. Layne played his college football at TCU. All totaled the Chiefs selected nine players in the 2001 NFL Draft, five of them will play on offense.
