Missouri’s two United States Senators have completed their Easter break and returned to Washington, D.C. Senator Christopher Bond looks forward to a very busy time in the next few weeks, tackling such issues as the budget and tax cuts. He believes President Bush will get about seven-eights of the $1.6-trillion in tax cuts he had wanted. Senator Jean Carnahan is focusing on the budget, education spending, and tax cuts. Her tax cut proposal, one calling for $1.2-trillion in cuts, was approved by the Senate. A Senate-House Conference will get together to iron out the differences between the Senate version and the House version, which calls for the entire $1.6-trillion the President seeks.
