Blues Steal Game #5

April 20, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Bryce Salvador’s goal at the 9:54 mark of overtime gave the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 win over San Jose in Game #5 of their first-round Western Conference playoff series. St. Louis now leads the series three games to two. Salvador nearly didn’t get the chance to be the hero as St. Louis needed a goal from Dallas Drake with just 2:48 remaining in regulation to force the extra session. Pierre Turgeon had another big game for the Blues, assisting on both the game-tying goal and the game-winner. He now has nine points in the series. Roman Turek kicked away 24 of the 26 shots he faced between the pipes. Blues can win the series by capturing Game #6, Saturday afternoon in San Jose.
