Once again the bullpen betrayed Royals manager Tony Muser as Kansas City relievers Jason Grimsley and Tony Cogan allowed four eight inning runs in Minnesota yesterday turning a 3-1 lead into a 5-3 loss. This is the fourth time this season that the Royals have lost a lead and a game in their opponents’ final at-bat. You had a feeling this one was going to be frustrating right at the outset. The Royals first five batters in the top of the first inning laced hits, but they could turn those knocks into only two runs. Kansas City is now 4-11 on the season and they are off today.
