As expected on Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals placed first baseman Mark McGwire on the 15-day DL with knee pain. McGwire has been hampered by the right knee since undergoing off-season surgery on it. McGwire has played in only six games this season. Cardinals shuffled the roster in addition to the McGwire situation. Reliever Chad Hutchinson was sent to Memphis and reliever Jason Karnuth and outfielder Kerry Robinson were recalled from Triple A. Robinson played his college baseball at Southeast Missouri State.
