After twenty months on the job, Benjamin Demps has been fired as Superintendent of Kansas City schools. The school board met last night, voting five to nothing to oust Demps. The other four members of the nine-member board boycotted the meeting and the vote. Demps says he was surprised by the process, but refused to say whether he would mount a legal challenge. The Kansas City School Board has been the subject of a lot of controversy, with several efforts launched in a bid to have the state take over control of the district.
