The Arizona Diamondbacks erupted for 18 hits, including five home runs, and 17 tallies as they destroyed the Cardinals on Tuesday 17-4. Things got so bad for the Redbirds that utilityman Bobby Bonilla pitched the ninth inning. He allowed two runs on three hits in that inning of work. Dustin Hermanson was toasted in this one. The Cardinals starter allowed eight runs while recording just seven outs. He falls to 1-1. One highlight for the Cards, pitcher Gene Stechschulte came on as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning and cracked a two-run home run. St. Louis falls to 6-8 on the season.
