Despite seven strong innings from Matt Morris, the St. Louis Cardinals fell on Monday to Arizona 2-1. Morris allowed just the two runs on five hits. He walked three and struck out five. The Cardinals bats however were stymied by Robert Ellis. The 30-year old righthander won his first Major League game by scattering five hits over six innings of work. The Cardinals lone run scored on a Mike Matheny sixth inning sacrifice fly. St. Louis falls to 6-7 on the season. They will battle the D-Backs again tonight at 7:10 p.m.
