An audit of state agencies and departments shows many are doing poor jobs of complying with Missouri’s Sunshine Law, which mandates they conduct activities in the open. State Auditor Claire McCaskill says more than 40 percent of the government bodies surveyed did not adequately respond to requests from her office for copies of public records. The requests for information sent to the various agencies and departments were disguised as letters from citizens.
