Nursing Home Legislation Moves Forward In House

April 11, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Nursing homes would come under increased state scrutiny and suffer more severe punmishments for violations under a bill moving forward in the House. A similar bill died on the last day of the session last year. It would require suspected elder abuse and suspicious deaths at nursing homes be reported to police. Penalties for elder abuse would be harsher than penalties for assault. In addition, there would be increased enforcement of staffing ratios and training.
