The Cardinals made a deal with Florida prior to their home opener with Colorado. Cards send utilityman John Mabry to the Florida Marlins in exchange for cash. Mabry was hitless in seven at-bats with St. Louis this season. The Cardinals needed to open up a roster spot so they could activate Bobby Bonilla off the 15-day disabled list.
