A clash between Governor Bob Holden and House Republicans is starting to affect the legislative session. Calls of bipartisanship have been put to a severe test as Republicans, angered by Holden’s moves on redistricting, have slowed down work on legislation. It all stems from the appointment of State Representative Mark Richardson of Poplar Bluff to serve on redistricting commissions. The GOP had withdrawn Richardson’s name from consideration when a question arose over the legality of his serving in the Legislature and on a government commission at the same time. The Governor made the appointment, just the same, angering Republicans.
