A wild weekend of women’s basketball in St. Louis was capped off Sunday night as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish won the NCAA Division One National Championship with a 68-66 win over Purdue. Ruth Riley won the game by hitting a pair of free throws with 5.8 seconds remaining. Riley finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds, she also blocked seven shots. The Purdue team that Notre Dame beat eliminated Southwest Missouri State on Friday night in the National Semi-finals 81-64. Jackie Stiles scored 22 points in her final game in a Lady Bear uniform.
