The St. Louis Cardinals open the 2001 season today in Denver against the Colorado Rockies. The Cardinals will give the ball to Darryl Kile today at 3:05 p.m. Kile is 3-0 in his career on Opening Day with a 1.83 ERA. Kile spent two seasons with the Rockies before coming over to the Cardinals. Kile’s career ERA in Coors Field in Denver is 6.67. Colorado will start lefthander Mike Hampton today. Cardinals are the defending National League Central Division Champions.
