A misstep on parliamentary procedure has sparked confusion in the Missouri House and could lead to the death of one of the House Speaker’s top priorities. Speaker Jim Kreider wants to fund school building grants with gambling revenues. But State Representative Louis Ford of St. Louis, attempting to lift loss limits on riverboat gambling, has refused to give up and has tabled his amendment to the bill. That effectively tables the bill. Despite the death of his bill, Kreider will not give in to those who favor the direct diversion of half the funding to school districts.
