Republican leaders in the State Senate have backed away from a proposal to eliminate a dozen positions as part of a Senate overhaul, and will only do away with six jobs. Among those still working is Kim Green, a longtime aide to Senator Harold Caskey of Butler, who is legally blind. Green has served as the eyes of Senator Butler for the last nine years, helping him with legislation and guiding him through various legislative functions. The five-member Senate Administration Committee voted Friday to make the cuts official, with the three Republicans voting in favor and the two Democrats abstaining. Democrats say the cuts are illegal while the Republicans say the action is perfectly legitimate.
