Diversity breakdown figures for Missouri from Census 2000 have been released and they show this state is home to a growing number of Hispanics. That population grew dramatically over the last decade, nearly doubling in size to more than 118,000 people. The trend that has seen Hispanics coming to the United States has been a fact of life for some time. What is now clear is that many of these newcomers are moving beyond the border states of Texas and California. Missouri’s Hispanics make up 2.1-percent of the state’s overall population.
