Members of the Missouri House have approved a measure cracking down on so-called gray market cigarettes. But debate on the issue focused more on another aspect of the bill – youth smoking. It’s currently illegal for those under the age of 18 to buy cigarettes in Missouri. But it is not illegal for youths to possess cigarettes. The House bill would close the loophole and fine retailers who sell to minors, or allow them access to cigarette vending machines.
