The State Senate has decided not to slow down the big trucks on Missouri’s roads. Senator Wayne Goode of Normandy wants to cut the speed limit for trucks on major highways to 65 miles per hour, while cars travel at 70 miles per hour. He says the net effect will be slower traffic and safer roads. But opponents of Goode’s measure say the answer to improving safety lies with better enforcement of existing speed limits, not making trucks travel at slower speeds. The Senate voted down Senator Goode’s proposal.
