Missouri’s leading business groups are expressing disappointment over the State Supreme Court’s ruling on Hancock Amendment refunds. Basically, the Court ruled the state does not have to refund more than $500-Million being sought by plaintiffs who had launched lawsuits against the state. The Missouri Chamber of Commerce clings to the belief that taxpayers are owed the money. It says the number of taxpayers receiving refunds will be very small, and the amount of the total refund will be only a fraction of what had been sought in court. Likewise, Associated Industries of Missouri would like to have seen money returned to taxpayers. It will look into other legal options.
