Legislative leaders are offering mixed reactions to Governor Bob Holden’s $620-Million transportation package. House Speaker Jim Kreider of Nixa, a Democrat, applauds the idea. But Senate President Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau, a Republican, has concerns. The plan would raise gas and sales taxes as well as fees to raise $370-Million for roads and bridges, $100-Million each for interstates and mass transit, and $25-Million each for local projects and other types of transportation.
