Crank Out The Fun … Really?

March 7, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

An unintended double meaning for the theme of this year’s Missouri State Fair is causing a bit of a stir. The slogan is “Crank Up the Fun.” Fair officials did not realize that “crank” is a street term for methamphetamine. They insist no one was aware of the term and no one mentioned it during development. The fair’s Sedalia advertising agency came up with the slogan. The State Fair runs from August 9th through August 19th in Sedalia.
