The St. Louis Blues have acquired veteran defenseman Alexei Gusarov from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Peter Smrek. The 36-year old Gusarov has a goal and four assists in 35 games this season. Gusarov played for Joel Quenneville when the current Blues head coach was an assistant with the Avalanche. The Blues parted with Smrek who scored in two goals in six games with St. Louis.
