The Ku Klux Klan remains a part of Missouri’s Adopt-A-Highway program. The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to review the state’s case against the Klan’s participation. In refusing to hear the case, the lower court ruling stands. That ruling, by an appeals court, determined the state had violated the Constitution in banning the Klan from the program because the ban was based on the organization’s views. The Klan maintains its sponsorship of a stretch of Interstate 55 near St. Louis.
