The State Senate has voted to make it tougher for cities and the state to sue the companies that make guns and ammunition. Sponsors of the legislation say the actions are nuisance cases that primarily benefit lawyers. The bill would not ban lawsuits filed by individuals. An attempt to tie the legislation to a requirement that trigger locks be sold along with guns went down to defeat. The lawsuit banning bill now moves onto the House.
