An effort to protect gun and ammunition manufacturers from lawsuits by city has run into a small but determined pocket of opposition in the State Senate. St. Louis is one of several cities suing gun manufacturers, seeking payment for damages caused by gun-related crimes. It appears a majority of Senators backs the idea of passing a law to ban such court actions. But a handful of lawmakers who want to keep the suing option open have delayed a Senate vote by offering amendment after amendment.
