Supporters of American Airlines’ proposal to buy St. Louis-based Trans World Airlines are concerned with efforts in Washington to slap a one-year moratorium on airline mergers. Legislation aimed at freezing all mergers and acquisitions of major airlines for one year is being considered by lawmakers on Capitol Hill. This could threaten American’s effort to buy TWA’s assets. Today is the deadline for submission of bids to purchase those assets.
