There’s been a drop in the crime rate in Missouri’s largest city. Figures for last year show crime in Kansas City was down eight percent in the year 2000, compared to figures for 1999. The only increase was in the area of auto theft and attempted auto theft. That category saw a seven percent increase over the previous year. Police think many cars and trucks were stolen as people left their vehicles running and unattended in an effort to warm them up during cold weather.
