The House has forwarded the Senate a budget with an expected 127 million dollar shortfall. House Budget Committee Chairman Tim Green (D-St. Louis) says he sees no alternative but to let the Senate try to find a solution to the budget deficit. Governor Bob Holden had hoped to use money from the national tobacco settlement to make up the shortfall. The Legislature’s action might force Governor Holden to abandon state construction projects for the time being.
