A state lawsuit against Planned Parenthood can move forward, though Attorney General Jay Nixon has restricted the role of a special prosecutor in the case. Special Assistant Attorney General Jordan Cherrick had argued that Planned Parenthood fails to comply with state law regarding its services and should not receive state family planning money. That law requires those receiving family planning money to keep those services separate from abortion services. The Attorney General’s Office says Cherrick can no longer pursue a suit against the Health Director, but can defend the Legislature.
