Researchers at the University of Missouri are doing their part to make highway construction zones safer for motorists by testing several devices aimed at reducing the number of accidents. Studies show construction zone crash rates are highest as drivers reach the point where lanes close. Researchers are addressing that by installing orange rumble strips and white lane drop arrows on approaches to work zones. They’re also experimenting with a citizens band warning system to advise truckers of work zones.
