The Senate has approved and sent it the House a proposal to establish a child abuse and neglect commission within the governor’s office. The office is to evaluate the laws and rules on child abuse, neglect, custody, visitation and termination of parental rights, and will recommend changes in the law, if needed. The commission also is to recommend guidelines to be used by judges to determine “the best interest of the child.” The measure is sponsored by Senator David Klarich of Ballwin.
