Purple Hearts seek recognition

February 17, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A bill before the State Legislature would allow U.S. veterans who were wounded in action to obtain Purple Heart license plates free of charge. Ralph Scully is with the group Missouri Military Order of the Purple Heart. He believes giving the plates to Purple Heart veterans would bring them deserved recognition. Supporters of the legislation are asking that those wounded in action are given the same consideration with the license plates as are those who were prisoners of war. POW plates are currently available at no additional charge.
