The Highway Patrol’s zone supervisor in Pemiscot and New Madrid Counties in southeast Missouri has been killed when his car crashed into a bridge abutment on the way to a traffic accident in the bootheel.Sergeant Robert Guilliams had been with the patrol for 17 years. Patrol lieutenant Tim Hull says road conditions appear to have contributed to the crash, although a special investigative team will look into the circumstances. Guilliams is the 21st highway patrolman killed in the line of duty.
