Five of the lowest-performing schools in Kansas City have been identified as “deficient” and will receive state help. The state action is unrelated to the accreditation process. The three high schools and two middle schools have two years to improve performance or risk penalties like replacing school personnel. A team of state educators will audit the schools and report back to the state board of education.
