A southeast Missouri Congresswoman contemplates the personal as well as professional impact of a possible run for senate. Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson of Cape Girardeau says she hasn’t closed the door to a Senate run, but that she has a lot to think about before making a decision.Emerson re-married about a year ago. She successfully succeeded her late husband, Bill Emerson, by winning a special election in 1996 called when he died in office. She says the 2002 Senate race will be a tough one, not just because Senator Jean Carnahan is expected to run to finish her late husband’s six-year term, but because it will be run in a compressed time frame.
