A limitation on lawsuits against weapons makers and sellers is under discussion in the state senate. St. Louis has joined the cities suing gun makers and sellers for millions of dollars in damages, citing the costs the city incurs because of crimes caused by people using guns. Senator Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau wants to ban lawsuits such as that one. He says the parties have taken to suing various visible parts of society to recover damages caused by people’s own negligence. St. Louis Senator Patrick Dougherty complains Kinder wants to keep communities from getting their days in court.
