Medical runs by the fire department in Ozark have been cut back because citizens have refused to approve a tax levy increase for the department. The department says it will no longer respond to non-emergency calls during night and early-morning hours. Volunteers will make those runs. Fire chief Jake Archer says his crews will only respond to life- threatening calls. He says his staff can no longer afford to respond to all calls, after last week’s vote.
