A proposal to increase the pool of people who could serve as election judges would require employers to give employees time off to work at the polls. Senator Paula Carter of St. Louis sponsors the bill. She tells a Senate committee something must be done to increase the pool of people who serve as election judges. Secretary of State Matt Blunt endorses the bill. He says it’s a statewide problem. The proposal would give the employee legal recourse should their employer fire him for taking time out to work the election.
