Many Missourians are buying goods on the internet and bypassing the traditional forms of shopping. They’ve been doing it to buy everything from books, to music, to airline tickets. Now, some are buying cigarettes from web retailers and avoiding the 17-cent per package tax. Pat Gifford of the Missouri Revenue Department says there is a way Missourians who smoke can be sure they’re buying cigarettes legally. Gifford further worries that money collected from cigarette sales is used to fund several of the state’s programs.
