Suppan Inks New Deal with Royals

The Kansas City Royals avoided salary arbitration with righthander Jeff Suppan Thursday, agreeing to a two-year deal worth $6.5 million dollars. The 26-year old will make $2 million dollars this season and $3.8 million in 2002. He also gets a $700,000 signing bonus. In 2000, Suppan went 10-9 for K.C. with a 4.94 ERA in 35 games.
