A company in Springfield that remanufactures transmissions and engines for Daimler-Chrysler is laying off about 60 people. A company spokesman says the layoffs are a reflection of Daimler-Chrysler’s restructuring. The company hopes to recall those workers once the car company gets itself reorganized. Originally, the company had planned on laying off all 160 of its employees, but credited some last-minute negotiating with a deal to continue partial operations.
