An effort is underway in the General Assembly to better protect the privacy of police officers, prison guards, and other peace officers. Senator David Klarich has introduced legislation aimed at keeping certain information away from the general public. He says this has become a very important issue following the recent death of St. Louis Police Officer Robert Stanze who was killed in the line of duty. His wife was harassed by a belligerent suspect after Stanze’s death. Anyone was able to gain access to the slain officer’s home address, telephone number, and other personal information.
