Vets seek chance for diplomas

February 6, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Some Missourians who passed up a chance to graduate from high school so they could fight some of the country’s wars are asking the legislature to let them have high school diplomas. Veterans of both world wars and the Korean War hope a bill gets passed this year. The bill just refers to veterans of World War Two, but spokesman Dewey Reen with the Veterans of Foreign Wars says the bill should be broadened. Reen says Missouri had about 100 World War One Veterans as of last July 1st, about 124,000 World War Two veterans, and 91,000 Korean War veterans.
