CA power woes not expected here

February 3, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

The problems with electric power in California won’t happen here. At least Bill Washburn, electricity department manager for the Missouri Public Service Commission, doesn’t think so. He says, for one thing, most electric companies here own their power generating plants. California’s deregulation separated producers and suppliers. Washburn also notes California hasn’t built a power plant in 12 years, whereas Missouri has been building plants as needed. And he says nearly all the power used in Missouri is generated here.
