GOP house may affect senate

February 2, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A political shift has taken place in the State Senate with Republicans taking control and leaders in the House differ on how that shift will affect their chamber. Republican leader Catherine Hanaway of Warson Woods points out bills go back and forth between the two chambers and Democrats must now treat House Republicans with more respect. But House Speaker Jim Kreider notes the two chambers are different no matter who controls them. He pledges to stand his ground as leader of the House. Kreider does say though that he’s more glad than ever that he set a tone of bi-partisanship when the session first began.
