Clay pushes Bush on Judge White

February 2, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

St. Louis Congressman Lacy Clay says he and Minority Leader Richard Gephardt have asked President Bush to appoint State Supreme Court Judge Ronnie White as a federal judge. Ashcroft’s successful fight to derail White’s previous nomination became a focal point of the confirmation hearings on Ashcroft. Some Democrats stated they wouldn’t vote for Ashcroft, because of his treatment of White. Clay says Bush could heal wounds and repair damage by re-nominating White to the federal bench.
